PRESENTING THE PROPHETES HISTORY SERIES
We are delighted to present this valuable work of Ahmet Cemil Akıncı, titled The Great Kısas-ı Enbiya (Stories of the Prophet), to the Turkish reader, in a new edition that has been meticulously studied. This series of Akıncı, who devoted a significant part of his life to writing historical novels in the religious and national fields, is one of the most beautiful examples of the 'Kısas-ı Enbiyâ' literary genre and is a contemporary interpretation. The main sources of the work are the Quran, commentaries, hadith books and hadith commentaries, as well as the literature of tit-al-anbiya.
While preparing this edition, our publishing house aimed to make it more perfect with the meticulous work of a delegation composed of academics, mostly theologians and Islamic historians. The basic criterion of the committee, which reviewed the work from beginning to end, is to determine whether the information and narrations contained in it are found in the sources belonging to the Islamic culture and whether they are generally seen as acceptable. In this context, the stories and the narrations within the stories described in the work were determined especially in the 'stories and history of the prophet' literature, and their sources were tried to be shown.
Akıncı succeeded in attracting the reader to the atmosphere where the prophets lived in an immersive fictional fiction, with an emotional expression, and in this way, he was able to give his work a feature that everyone can read from seven to seventy.
This work should not be seen as a history book. The author experimented with different styles as required by the genre of novel and story, sometimes he made angels speak to give some information, and sometimes he made explanations by going beyond the time flow in history.
On the other hand, the exact period in which many prophets lived is not clearly stated in historical sources. The author revealed an approximate date with the calculations he made based on the available data, stated this in the relevant section at the beginning of each book, and based on these dates in the text of the novel.
Although some prophets are finished in a single and separate book, others have continued their lives in a few books. For example, volumes related to Musa, Harun and Yuşa (as) were continued. It is related to the work being a series.
After the history of the prophets, which will consist of twenty-two books, the series called Our Dear Prophet is also being prepared by our publishing house, and most of the works of Ahmet Cemil Akıncı will be completed in this way.
